Picks are opinions, not guarantees. Odds may have moved since publishing.

I went through both games on the NHL slate for Friday, October 16, looking for the best anytime goalscorer props. The picks below are ranked by PropFinder's Goalscorer Matchups score, which blends a skater's own scoring form with how much the opposing defense and goalie give up.

Every score here runs from 0 to 100, where 50 is league average. Form drives the ranking, and the matchup can lift or trim it. It is a small slate and an early season sample, so keep that in mind as you read the numbers.

Beckett Sennecke to score a goal (+208, Novig)

ANYTIME GOALSCORERBOS@ANA· Oct 16, 10:00 PM ET

Beckett Sennecke

Anytime Goalscorer

Beckett Sennecke has four goals in six games for Anaheim on 17 shots, or 2.83 per game, so the sample is small. The chances behind it are real: he averages 1.50 individual high-danger chances per game and has 2.52 expected goals, which means he is finishing above expectation with a 12.2% shooting percentage. He plays about 21 minutes a night, including 4.19 on the power play, the heaviest input in the score. All of that adds up to a 91 form score, well above the league average of 50.

Boston allows right wingers 7.71 scoring chances, 4.57 high-danger chances, 7.57 shots and 0.43 goals per game, good for a 60 matchup score. Michael DiPietro is confirmed in goal for the Bruins with a .897 save percentage, but that comes from one game, so treat it lightly. Novig has Sennecke at +208, against a median of +180 across 11 books. The case is simple: elite form, power-play time and an above-average matchup at a plus price.

Nathan MacKinnon to score a goal (-104, Novig)

ANYTIME GOALSCORERPIT@COL· Oct 16, 9:00 PM ET

Nathan MacKinnon

Anytime Goalscorer

Nathan MacKinnon has five goals in seven games for Colorado, backed by 29 shots, or 4.14 per game, the heaviest volume of the three picks. He averages 1.00 individual high-danger chances per game and has 2.91 expected goals, so he is scoring above expectation with a 14.4% shooting percentage. He logs 20:36 a night, 4.39 minutes of it on the power play. That is a 95 form score, well above average.

This is a below-average matchup, with a 44 matchup score, and his form carries the pick. Pittsburgh allows centers 7.14 scoring chances, 2.86 high-danger chances, 6.71 shots and 0.43 goals per game. Arturs Silovs is confirmed in goal for the Penguins with a .885 save percentage over four games. Novig has MacKinnon at -104, better than the -127 median across 11 books. The case rests on his volume and power-play role.

David Pastrnak to score a goal (+156, Novig)

ANYTIME GOALSCORERBOS@ANA· Oct 16, 10:00 PM ET

David Pastrnak

Anytime Goalscorer

David Pastrnak has two goals in seven games for Boston, so the box score undersells him. He takes 3.86 shots per game and 1.43 individual high-danger chances per game, and his 2.25 expected goals line up with his two goals, so he is not running hot. He plays 19:26 a night with 2.91 minutes on the power play, and a 10.9% shooting percentage. His 84 form score is still well above the league average of 50.

The matchup is the best of the three, a 74 matchup score. Anaheim allows right wingers 9.83 scoring chances, 4.00 high-danger chances, 7.83 shots and 0.67 goals per game. Lukas Dostal is confirmed in goal for the Ducks with a .891 save percentage over five games. Novig has Pastrnak at +156, against a median of +135 across 11 books. The case is a high-volume shooter facing a defense that gives up a lot to his position.
